With over 100 million registered users and more than 370 million messages exchanged every month, LOVOO brings thousands of people together daily. Its impact is global, yet deeply personal , with countless stories of happy couples who found each other through the app.

Love at First Sight: Redefining Dating
in the Live Video Era

As Principal Product Designer at LOVOO, I played a key role in shaping the Live Video experience, a breakthrough feature that redefined how users interact within the app. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, I led efforts to define, design, and deliver a dynamic real-time video experience that merged dating with live social engagement, pushing the boundaries of what a dating app could offer.

The project was driven by deep user research and iterative design. Our goal was to create a space that felt authentic, intuitive, and safe, while still being fun and socially rich. By blending live streaming with dating, we introduced a new way for users to connect, not just through profiles or messages, but through spontaneous, real-time interaction.


Live Video quickly became a differentiator for LOVOO, especially in key markets like France and Switzerland, where the feature first launched. It led to a significant boost in user activity and retention, with LOVOO becoming one of the first European dating apps to successfully integrate livestreaming.


Today, LOVOO continues to be a major player in the industry, having generated over €50 million in revenue and becoming part of the Meet Group, which reaches millions of active users across its portfolio of social discovery apps.


In a crowded dating landscape, LOVOO’s move into live streaming wasn’t just a feature update , it was a strategic pivot. It allowed the company to redefine what “connection” could look like in a mobile-first world.
